Our priority at all times is to give you an easy and enjoyable shopping experience while protecting your privacy and the integrity of your personal information.
Data Collection & Storage - You may browse the Perilla website without giving us any of your personal information. However, if you wish to make a purchase you will obviously be required to pass over such information as this will enable us to fulfil your request. We keep a record of this information on our database so we may recognise you as a customer. We also keep a record of your purchases and we often save email correspondence so we may track questions or concerns you may have with our products or service. All card information is encrypted and we never see it. If you call us and do an order over the phone please be assured that all card information is shredded immediately after we process the order. Addresses are password-protected and stored on a secure server, so no one else can possibly access them. Our data collection and storage is governed by the rules of the UK Data Protection Act.
Email addresses: We like to have an email address so that you can receive confirmation of your order and also notify you when your order has been shipped. Occasionally, particularly at our busiest time Christmas, we might have run out of a colour or size and we will need to contact you. If you do not wish to give us that then just put "info@perilla.co.uk" where it is required. If you contact us after the order has been shipped we can always remove your email address from our database - it is no problem.
Newsletter: Our policy has been for you to opt in since 2011. We would add that at some stage that option was deleted when the Shopify Platform did an update (they do these all the time) and we didn't notice. Because of this we very rarely send newsletters but when we do please just click on the "UNSUBSCRIBE" tab as we get into all sorts of trouble with the authorities for sending unsolicited mail.
Telephone number: We only need this if there is a problem and annoyingly it is always the people we need to speak to who leave a fake telephone number. If you contact us after the order has been shipped we can always remove your telephone number from our database - it is no problem once an order has gone.
Data Sharing – we do not share data with a third party.
EU Cookie Law - A cookie is a small file, typically of letters and numbers, downloaded on to a device when the user accesses certain websites. Cookies allow a website to recognise a user’s device.
The Perilla website uses cookies to benefit the user to store name and address information so that when you return to us and enter your email address and the password, you have set yourself, you do not have to enter your details every time you order. Cookies are also used to remember details of the products that you have added to your basket . We need to use cookies to give you a seamless experience when using this website; to make it more efficient and reliable. We do not store any of your payment information in this way. These cookies are stored on the hard drive of your computer. If you want, you can disable them. However, you should know that this will cause problems adding products to your basket.
"Implied consent" is when you wish to carry on buying from our website - we hope you agree that is a reasonable assumption. Please ring your order through if you do not. Any card information given to us during a call is shredded within minutes of processing your order.
Data is collected in the shop using a web analysis tool called Google Analytics using cookies that are (able to be) used to generate pseudonyms for user profiles.
The customer has the right to revoke any given consents at all times. The customer has the right to information about their stored personal data and right to correction, blocking and deletion of the data.
Payment: We have four gateways of payment:
1) Stripe. Stripe is otherwise called Shopify Payments and is integrated into the store. Everything is encrypted and we never see any of your card details except the last four digits of your card. If you have a refund this is put back onto the card you have used for the purchase. We cannot add to an order without you doing another order. You can use any Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
2) PayPal - this is considered one of the safest modes of payment and is very quick and efficient. Again if we need to give you a partial or full refund this goes back onto the card or account you selected to pay with.
3) Shop - shop is a way of payment that links to an App on your phone. It is considered to be very secure and keeps you informed on the progress of your order.
4) G Pay or Google Pay - this is another secure method of payment using an App on your device.
