Our Story

A new chapter for Perilla

Perilla has entered a new era – one shaped by mother and daughter team Georgie and Tabitha, part of a family whose lives have always blended hard work, horses and a deep appreciation for British craftsmanship.

Though Perilla is a new venture for us, textiles does run in the family. Georgie’s grandfather owned the first ever glove knitting machine in Scotland, a piece of history that remains on show in the museum in Dumfries. That spirit of innovation and quality is something we are determined to carry forward in the future of Perilla.

Perilla has only moved across the road from the previous owner but has moved from Herefordshire to Worcestershire, where the rhythm of rural life sits at the heart of everything we do. Between running a small string of racehorses and an engineering business (and the daily chaos of horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys… the list goes on), we run Perilla with the same values we live by – honesty, quality and doing things properly.

Meet the Team

Georgie

With a degree in Russian history and two decades spent running the family’s engineering company, Georgie brings a wealth of experience in business, problem solving and customer care. Her true passion, however, has always been horses. She show jumped at the Horse of the Year Show in her youth and now trains a small string of racehorses from the farm.
One of her proudest moments as a trainer was sending out Sub Lieutenant in the 2021 Grand National – ridden by Tabitha, led up by Hector and Fleur – a true family affair.

Tabitha

A professional jump jockey with a degree in Sport Science, Tabitha has spent her life on a horse or playing some other sport. She won the Aintree Foxhunters in 2019 and has recently ridden out her claim but one of her favourite days in the saddle was Sub Lieutenant completing the Grand National.
Her love of sporting grit and genuine connection guides Perilla’s marketing, creating a brand that feels warm, real and rooted in rural life.

Hector

With a degree in Property he is now a professional polo player and recently taken over as MD of the family engineering business, Hector balances sport, business and property development. He and Fleur live in Oxfordshire with their gorgeous little boy Arthur and they help with Perilla operations behind the scene.

Fleur

Fleur has a degree in Agriculture and works running the office for a polo company. She brings calm and a creative vision to Perilla. She too has a strong love for horses and has previously ridden in point-to-points and enjoys riding her horse Poppy between work and looking after Arthur.

Our Vision

We are committed to sustainability, quality and supporting small British businesses. Our yarn comes from alpacas living a free-range life in the Peruvian Altiplano. Once in the UK, it is knitted into luxurious socks in a small family run factory in Loughborough, then dyed into our vibrant colour range in York.
Every step of the journey matters to us – from the alpaca farms in Peru to the final pair wrapped and packed by us in the office.
