Our alpaca walk and climb socks are best sellers this summer. It may have been 80 degrees, and we're never really surprised about what our customers buy from us at different times of the year, but we've noticed that the fine weather has brought out the heartiest of our walkers and climbers in Scotland this year in particular.
Here at Perilla we are getting very excited about our first crop of new potatoes. As with everything on the farm this year, these have come through a whole month later than what is considered normal for us on the Hereford/Worcester border.
At last the shearer came this week to shear our small flock, a month later than normal thanks to the abnormally cold Spring. So glad we only had 15 and not 215 to do in this heat, it was bad enough as it was. When Perilla alpaca socks took off six years ago I sold my beautiful flocks of Charollais and Suffolk ewes that I had bred for 25 years
This is a wonderful time of year, just as the sun starts coming out properly and everything on the farm looks so attractive as the roses and plants flower at their peak.
This is our first post on our new blog at Perilla, which we hope you'll come back and visit regularly.
We'll be telling you all about our wonderful alpaca socks amongst other things, including why we use this exceptional luxuriously soft and hardwearing fibre - and why a pair of our socks will out last and out wear anything you can find elsewhere.
