A chance meeting with a leading local alpaca breeder, who had an interest in producing knitwear, steered me in the direction of the fabulous alpaca socks you'll find on this website.
I started the business in March 2006 using only British produced alpaca but we just could not get enough of the highest grade fibre we required and now import substantial amounts of alpaca yarn from Peru.
I started my working life as a PA to the MDs of a property investment company and then an American oil company in London. I became a photographic model in London for the next seven years in the 1970s. I then met my husband, moved to Worcestershire and had three children.
We bought a very run down farm on the Hereford/Worcester border 30 years ago where I breed horses and ponies and for 25 years bred pedigree Charolais and Suffolk rams for commercial breeders to use on their flocks. I sold both flocks in 2008 when Perilla became too big to do sheep at the standard I had set myself but keep a few as mowers as I love sheep and would never be without them.
This is our ninth year of trading and we are busy expanding the range of colours and styles. We have one permanent member of staff, Amy Jones; we get in Nicki Murray to answer calls and a couple of packers during our most busy period, Christmas.
