At last! Alpaca Fur Hats Are Here
The timing could not be more perfect! We have been waiting for our most popular colours of alpaca fur hats being Taupe and Champagne and they will be with us by the last week of November. Dealing with suppliers from Peru is always fraught but it is getting harder and harder to source the fabulous skins that are required for these hats.
It is a sort of good news bad news situation. Far better news for the poor little cria who die of mostly wet weather related hypothermia - the Peruvian government are taking much more active steps to pay subsidies to farmers to build shelters and take better care of their stock. These farmers are the poorest of the poor and they need every bit of help that they can get. The bad news is that the number of skins has been drastically reduced although quite frankly that can only really ever be good news!
Please do not hold your breath for Black Friday with us - it ain't gonna happen!
News from the farm; starting to look very wintery now, most of the horses have been taken off the fields to preserve them for next year and are given sacrificial paddocks of a couple of acres with the exception of the brood mares and we don't mind them wrecking their 10 acre grazing as they are all too fat and need less rather than more grass.
Great success with our homebred eventer Wolferlow Prologue (by Pro Set out of a TB by Tirol) culminating with a run at his first CCI* an International event held at Weston Park in Staffordshire. We were absolutely thrilled with his bravery over cross country which was massive as you can see and very much looking forward to next year.
